General information

1.†Who needs an Indian visa

All Foreign Nationals need a visa to enter India unless:

(i)††They hold a valid OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) card or PIO (Person of Indian Origin) card

(ii)††They are holders of a DIPLOMATIC /OFFICIAL passport of countries with which India has signed WAIVER AGREEMENTS.

IMPORTANT:†PIO/OCI card†does not entitle the holder to carry out research, missionary work or mountaineering, without prior permission.

2.†Where to apply

All visa applicants except Diplomatic/Official/UN passport holder should apply to the†Indian Visa Application Centres (IVAC)†M/s Cox & Kings global services†in Stockholm, UmeŚ, MalmŲ and Riga.

The steps are as follows:

  1. Fill online visa application form which is available at†https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/..
  2. Print out the completed form and sign it and add one more photograph.
  3. Submit the application form along with all requisite enclosures at the Embassy.

4.†Bio-metric Procedure for Visas

'Biometric Procedure' as described below have been introduced for grant of visa to all foreigners except for Diplomatic/Official passport holders and short term business visa applicants. All applicants would be required to follow 'Biometric Procedure' as described below:

(i)†Tourist/ Student Visa/X-Entry Visa/Medical Visa/Transit/Employment Visa

All those applying for any of the above visas, whether Swedish or foreign passport holders would have to come personally for the Biometrics procedure at the office of M/s Cox and Kings in Stockholm, MalmŲ, UmeŚ and Riga.

All applicants may go the most convenient Cox & Kings office for biometrics (i.e. Stockholm, Umea or Malmo) at the time of application.†

Applicants may also send application by post but would have to come for biometric procedure with appointment.

(ii)†Business Visa

However, for long term Business visa, biometric procedures would have to be followed.††
