 Embassy hosted a business networking lunch event on March 17, 2017 to promote India-Sweden trade, investment and commercial relations

 

Swedish Minister for Upper Secondary School and Adult Education and Training Ms. Anna Ekström was  the Chief Guest at the event along with members of her delegation which accompanied her to India in January 2017 for the 8th edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Summit and for bilateral meetings.  The delegation included senior government officials and business executives. Minister Ekström, during her visit to India, met with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi,  Minister of Information Broadcasting, Urban Development, Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation  Shri Venkaiah Naidu and Minister of State for Skill Development and  Entrepreneurship Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy. The Swedish Minister also extended invitation to both the Indian Ministers to visit Sweden to further enhance India-Sweden bilateral cooperation in relevant areas.   

Ambassador Ms. Monika Kapil Mohta in her welcome remarks referred to the growing India-Sweden bilateral relations especially in trade, investment and commercial sectors, visit of Minister Ekström to India and her meeting with the Prime Minister of India  and said that Sweden and India shared complementarities and were thus natural partners with enormous scope for further expanding and strengthening cooperation in varied sectors in view of Government of India flagship programmes, such as Make in India, Skill India, Smart Cities, Swachh Bharat, etc. Minister Ekström spoke about her visit to India and her meeting with the Prime Minister and growing India-Sweden relations and senior Ministers.  A short video film on ‘Make in India’ programme of the Government of India engrossed the audiences followed by culinary delights of selected Indian cuisine.

The business networking event which brought together cross-sections of relevant Ministries and government agencies, business organizations and Swedish and Indian business communities was attended by over 50 persons.
