  Overseas Citizen of India Scheme

Applications for OCI service can be submitted at the embassy counter on all working days between 0930-1200 in the morning or sent by post. All details of OCI is available in website http://mha.nic.in/uniquepage.asp?Id_Pk=553

The fees can either be paid in cash in the embassy counter or paid to Embassy bank giro (no 5816-4930). We expect the OCI cards to be ready for collection in approximately 4 - 5 weeks and we request that no enquiry should be made for at least 4 weeks after submission / date of receipt of application.

1. Application Form: Application forms compulsorily require to be filled in on-line from MHA website http://mha.nic.in/uniquepage.asp?Id_Pk=553. Part A has to be filled up on -line for each applicant of the family and Part B is common to all applicants of the family upto a maximum of four. Separate applications required for any other additional members. After submission of Part A online, a copy of Part A with an online registration number will be printed along with Part B of application form. Details in Part B can be typed or hand written in BLOCK LETTERS. In case the space provided is not sufficient, additional sheets may be used for providing requisite details. No column is to be left unanswered. Two sets of application form complete in all respects along with relevant enclosures must be submitted.

2. Signature: Full signature in the box should be provided and thumb impression (left hand thumb for male and right hand thumb for female) in case of minors / who cann’t sign.

3. Photographs: Two photographs (35mm X 35mm) should be pasted at the place provided on the application and two additional photographs must be attached in small envelope separately. Photographs should be of light colour background (not white) with front pose, both shoulders and both ears visible.

4. List of enclosures: Enclosures should be 2 sets of photocopies of requisite documents and each page self attested (i.e. to be signed by the applicant) by the applicant. For minors the Parent must self attest the photocopies. When signing on the photocopies of the documents please mention as "Self Attested" and sign with name & date.

(A) Photocopies of the photo page of valid Swedish / Latvian Passport. If the applicant is holding any other foreign passport, photocopy of the first page, photo page, all observation pages of the passport and person bevis are required.

(B) Evidence of self or parents or grand parents, (i) being eligible to become a citizen of India on 26.01.1950; or (ii) being citizen of India on or after 26.01.1950; or (iii) belonging to a territory that became part of India after 15.08.1947 These could be: (i) Copy of the Indian passport ;or (ii) Copy of the domicile certificate issued by the Competent authority ;or (iii) Any other proof

5. Evidence of relationship as parent/grand parent, if their Indian origin is claimed as basis for grant of OCI. Latest Personbevis / family bevis issued by Skattemyndegheten (Extract of Population Register issued by Swedish Tax Authority) giving the name of the child and his / her parents.
If the supporting documents are not satisfactory applicant will be asked to provide more documentary evidence.

6. Applicants are required to check their status of the application on the website. No separate intimation/letter will be sent to the applicant about the status of their applications and collection of OCI Certificate. The processing time of application is around 4-5 weeks. Applicants are required to check their status on MHA website http://mha.nic.in/uniquepage.asp?Id_Pk=553. No queries with regard to status of the applications will be entertained before the expiry of above period. Once OCI cards are received, applicants will be intimated through letters sent by ordinary post.

OCI CERTIFICATES COLLECTION PROCEDURES
At Embassy counter:
Applicants can come on any working day between 16 to 17 hours for collection of the OCI along with the intimation letter and documents written therein.
By Post:
For collecting OCI Certificate by Post, the applicant must send the documents written in the intimation letter alongwith a self addressed stamped REK envelope.

FEE PARTICULARS FOR OCI

The Embassy has stopped accepting cash/cheque at the Visa/Passport Counter. Applicants are requested to pay fee for the service requested through BANK-GIRO (5816-4930) only and enclose a copy of the proof of payment along with the application documents.
